Training

Are you seeking a fun way to get fit? Stay fit? Did you know that Roller Skating burns more than 700 calories per hour?
Sound interesting? The Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames compete against national and international teams on a regular basis. To get ourselves in shape for this we have regular practices at local leisure centres in the Birmingham area.
Because we want to offer you our undivided attention when you start out, on the first Saturday of each month we hold an induction session for new starters which is totally FREE. Our skaters will get you rolling properly whether this is getting you standing up, playing roller games or teaching you training drills, this means that your route to becoming a Rockin' Rollergirl will be as smooth, safe and enjoyable as possible.
We have a limited number of skates and pads that are free for you to hire, these are available in various sizes and on a first come first served basis. For information on what you will need to get involved in our sport please click here: Roller Derby Equipment.
If you want to come along to an induction session or just want to find out more, please contact us on info@blitzdames.com or visit our forum.

Once you've been to an induction session, you are able to attend all of our open sessions. These cost £5 and run every Saturday for 2 hours. For an hour after that, there is an exciting opportunity to become involved with the off-track responsibilities that are vital to keep our self-run league going. This is the time when the advanced skaters do their scrimmaging and it's worth coming along just to watch! Help us out by doing the score-keeping, penalty tracking, timing the naughty skaters in the Penalty Box and many more. This is also a great way to learn about the game.

Are my friends and family welcome?

Does it have to be really expensive to set up as a Rollergirl?
